Laikipia Ride

A full day exploring this pretty 13,000 acre wildlife conservancy by horse and vehicle with the option of a game walk along the river, before lunch. El Karama is home to world renowned wildlife sculptor, Murray Grant, and a visit to his studio is a fascinating experience. There is a host of game including Grevy's zebra, the rare endemic Jackson's hartebeest, elephant, giraffe and hippo in the river.

Private El Karama Camp

Today is our first moving day as we cross onto the specialist cattle ranch of Mogwooni, home to the Kenyon family where we will stop for lunch on the Nanyuki River. After lunch we head across to Enasoit, through a hidden valley on elephant and buffalo tracks with little dams before reaching the Lolldaiga Hills, a 55,000-acre ranch and probably one of the most beautiful farms in Africa. We reach camp at the head of a beautiful valley surrounded by cedar forest where we stay again for 2 nights.

Overnight Private Lolldaiga South Camp

This morning we will head off on a spectacular ride and a picnic lunch by land rover, to the northern areas of the ranch where we will find our 2nd Lolldaiga camp.

At one point we shall be on the western edge of the Lolldaiga Hills with spectacular views back over the Laikipia Plateau below, which we have traversed during the preceding days.

Overnight Private Lolldaiga North Camp

Today is our final moving day, as we ride eastwards with a picnic lunch.. We cross from Lolldaiga to Ole Naishu winding past large Kopje’s interspersed with cedar forest, before reaching Borana Conservancy. It is a wildlife conservancy in pristine countryside on the Northern slopes of Mount Kenya with beautiful views of the snow-capped peaks of the Mountain in the south & the rugged Mathews Range to the north. It is home to large numbers of rhino & seeing these prehistoric beasts from the back of a horse is a real highlight. We will arrive in camp in time for sundowners.

Overnight Private Borana Camp

A full day exploring this wildlife rich conservancy by horseback and vehicle, with a picnic lunch on the Ngare Ndare River. Borana has a high concentration of big cats and there is always a chance to find these predators from horseback. Borana is situated on top of an escarpment and the scenery here is spectacular. Borana is home to our hosts Nicky and Michael Dyer, who own and run this exceptional conservancy.

Wake up in time to pack and enjoy a full English breakfast in camp before you game drive to the airstrip and fly back to Nairobi at approximately 11am. You will arrive back into Nairobi at midday, allowing plenty of time to reach your onward destination.
