Your days are custom-tailored, ensuring every moment meets your desires. Begin with an early morning ride to a bush brunch that promises to delight. While the horses cool off under an Acacia tree, savor delicious home-cooked food that will fuel your adventures.
Sosian is home to an abundance of wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, hippos, giraffes, zebras, numerous antelope species, and all the big cats. Regular sightings of leopards and lions add to the excitement, and the area is renowned for its thriving population of endangered wild dogs. After an early lunch, we'll set off on the horses you've grown familiar with, heading north towards our rustic fly camp for the night.
As you ride from south to north, you'll traverse a diverse array of Sosian's landscapes and habitats, culminating in the vast open plains so emblematic of East Africa.
Upon arrival, your camp will be ready with cold drinks, hot bush showers, and a three-course dinner under the stars. The horses will be secured nearby on the picket line. This will be your most basic accommodation of the week, offering a truly magical experience of simple comforts under canvas, reminiscent of a bygone era.
Day 5
Suyian Soul
As the sun rises, enjoy a hot cup of tea or coffee before setting off on an easterly ride. You'll pause for breakfast under a shady tree, then continue descending into the valley. Following the winding path of the Ewaso Narok River, you'll eventually arrive at Suyian Soul, Laikipia’s premier eco-camp.
Suyian Soul is a simple, earthy retreat nestled in a scenic paradise beside a natural spring and salt lick. The camp is owned and run by Anne Powys, whose family has been cattle ranching in the area for nearly a century. Anne, Kenya’s foremost botanist and a captivating storyteller, adds a unique charm to the experience.
After lunch, join Anne and her guides for a walk, learning about the medicinal properties of various plants and their uses by local tribes. This enriching opportunity to gain insights from the best is highly recommended!
